Day 2. Sunday July 18, 1999. The group of about ten of us that stayed the night at George School ate lunch and prepared ourselves for a day of excitement and chaos. After preparing, we waited for the busses to arrive. Soon enough the George School was filled with students and teachers ready to go. The last bus arrived around five, we pushed the opening ceremonies back until after dinner. Everyone was hot, tired and restless from the hours(Grand Forks traveled 24 hours)spent traveling by bus. After dinner we met in what was called the "Meeting House." Formal introductions were made of the facilitators, guests and staff. After the introductions and opening, everyone was giving a "Person Scavenger Hunt," or a piece of paper listing 10 things they need to find about other people in the room. It was a good way to get people moving as well as get them acquainted. After the people scavenger hunt we heard from Christon Diamon. Christon works for the Haitian project that ODW-USA funded last year. Christon shared the positive results of his project and thanked the group in the name of the children that have benefited from the project. After Christon's speech, the group was dismissed and asked to arrange hall meetings to get to know those living in the same area. Hall meetings were held and "hopes and concerns" of the week were discussed. Room checks were at 11:00. Concluding Sunday: I'm excited to find a very dynamic group of young individuals, that are interested in international philanthropy, and working to better the future. I was also very pleased that most of the delegates I spoke with insisted that this group be youth run. YES, GO YOUTH!!!!!!
