On Sunday May 2, 1999, three youth delegates, Ashley Mork, Jenny Dean, and Kellie Graves had a chance to visit with Congressman David Bonier of Michigan. Mr. Bonier's definition of sustainability was livability. He believes the word shouldn't sound harsh, it should sound positive and easy to understand. As a leader in the House, he stresses that farmland should be preserved and not taken over by industries. Ten acres are destroyed per day. He addresses bike paths. He also mentioned that Congress is working with sustainability issues (didn't mention which ones) and that all topics work together.
