 Task GS-4: Memo to GreenStar - 1/20/99 • Due Date: 1/20/1999
Jock,

Yesterday I contacted our associates in New Mexico, including a public utility, a university, a Native American technical college, and a high school cluster consisting of several schools. Also, they are working closely with several remote Native American villages that do not have electricity to address the very issues---electricity, medical, economic development, and education---that the GreenStar program addresses. They are also concerned with housing.

A industry-education partnership is currently established which is focusing on the manufacturing, installation, and deployment of portable greenhouses for agricultural use. The university planning, architectural and engineering departments are heading up the program. Unit manufacturing will be accomplished at the technical college and vocational tech high school levels. I proposed building the unit at the Native American Technical College. The partnership is close to the Sandia lab.

My contacts are with the university program director and the CEO's office of the utility. They are the managers of the business-education partnership. I would like to provide them with more specific information and begin to include you in the conversation.

I will be talking with Ron this morning. Perhaps we can agree to move forward with this partnership within a week or two. Also, I know that this group may recieve notification of a grant award for technical assistance in the amount of $50,000 from the U.S. Department of Labor to support their business-education partnership program development.

The next step would be an MOU executed between EcoSage and the GreenStar Foundation. If this can be completed by Monday, I will begin to develop the concept paper, funding proprosals, and program partners in New Mexico.
