Charlie,

Following up on a voice mail I left you today and my telcon with Paul
...

1. GREENSTAR MOU

Allan Baer has forwarded a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to
Jock Gill regarding a licensing agreement between SolarQuest and
GreenStar for construction of telemedicine units by schools, with
initial emphasis upon deploying units for First Nations in the USA.

2. LEAR FOUNDATION GRANT -- NEVADA

In conjunction with "Sunrise Sustainable Resource Group" (the ASES
Chapter in Nevada), we have just received a grant of $10,000 from the Wm
and Moya Lear (Learjet) Foundation for a "solar education station" to be
built by a school in Northern Nevada. It will be mounted on a trailer
and powered by solar, partly to charge batteries for an electrathon
(electric go-kart).

By simply adding a telecommunications component, this unit can become a
test-bed for the GreenStar Telemedicine unit. (See #3 below.) To
solidify that concept, I would like to include ASE Americas in this
project, and it occurs to me that you might be able to arrange for a
donation of solar panels to SunRise (a non-profit) or the school which
wins our competition. You can read about the project at the solarquest
website... see http://www.solarquest.com/schoolhouse/ ---> (click on the
one school that is listed for Nevada).

I will give you a more concrete and detailed proposal if this is of
interest to you.

3. THE COMMUNICATIONS COMPONENT FOR GREENSTAR UNITS

It's a small world! When I asked Jock about specifications of the
communications component, he mentioned Dave Hughes and Frank Odasz. In
the summer of 1991 at the invitation of Frank Odasz (who recently bought
a house from my parents in Dillon, Montana), I spent a weekend with Dave
Hughes and some other folks in Cody, Wyoming, regarding distance
learning and graphics standards on the internet. (We were speculating
then about what later became the world wide web.) I will be talking to
Frank Odasz this weekend and I plan to line up a meeting with Dave
Hughes while I am in Colorado next week.

4. RELATED CONTACTS IN COLORADO

While I am in Colorado (4th-9th of Feb) for the Board meeting of ASES, I
would like to make contact with appropriate people at NREL to explore
various possibilities for collaboration on GreenStar. If you have
specific suggestions for people to meet with, and what might be an
appropriate approach to take with them, I'd appreciate hearing from you
soon.

-----------
All the best,

Ron
