Topic Description: While learning from projects elsewhere, Hawaii has unique characteristics: 1)'Ke Ala Hoku' started with broad, grassroots input about what people want for the future, rather than being shaped only by leaders and policy makers. 2)Hawaii's project is thoroughly intergenerational with youth and adults working together at every level of planning and action. 3)Ke Ala Hoku has developed relationships with local media which has helped make this effort a success.
