David:

Greetings. Thanks for your E-mail. I think having youth reporting on events at the National Town Meeting is a wonderful idea. I have had several discussions with Allan Baer of EcoSage Corporation on this topic and he has developed a proposal for an I-Net News Team at the NTM. One idea is to have the Youth Roundtable participants serve as reporters during the days leading up to the Roundtable. This will provide information that they can use during the Youth Roundtable and can also inform the PCSD National Roundtable.

Would it be possible to have 2-3 members of the Youth Roundtable serve on the National Roundtable? They could represent the entire Youth Roundtable and bring a different perspective to the National Roundtable. The youth themselves could select their spokespeople.

I look forward to talking with you further about these ideas.

David

Re: Youth Roundtable and Participation
Date: March 19, 1999

I am coordinating the PCSD National Roundtable that follows the Youth Roundtable on Wednesday May 5. The PCSD would like to inform its discussion at the Roundtable with survey and reporting information gleaned over the duration of the NTM by "roving reporters." Apparently, this opportunity was raised before and the idea of having a reporting group (e.g., possibly David Pine's group) is still a possibility. I am not assuming that you or the Berkeley group is organized to do this or should do this, but I am wondering if there is still an interest in the idea providing that the NTM budget would permit something. I have asked Monica Ellis to check on the budgeting, but will only act further on this after learning your opinion and recommendation.

Thanks.
