School: US / Africa Energy Ministers Conference • Quest 03: Introductions, Preparation and Evaluation (Reporters) • Task 03: Questions for the Energy Ministers
updated 12/9/1999 1:16:00 PM by Lisa Deaderick
Report: Potential interview questions
(the first five questions came from two Kenyan students who wanted these questions addressed to the Minister Masakhalia)

1. What is the relationship between the supply of power and its demand in Kenya?
2. How is it affecting the country's economy?
3. Do you think the government has done enough to provide energy for its citizens?
4. What plans do you have for industrialization for the millennium?
5. How is your ministry prepared for the millennium?
6. How feasible is a community like Civano in Arizona for Africa?
7. Are there any plans to build a community like Civano in your country?
8. How strongly do clean energy and climate change options affect your country?
9. How much economic growth is anticipated in Africa upon the success of projected small and medium American business ventures?
10. What are the challenges your country faces involving technological development in rural areas?

Review:

We will have the opportunity to visit Civano, so you will have a chance to validate your questions on that subject directly. In some respects, African communities are more sustainable than American communities. Civano may be a step towards emulating the intrinsic merits of a small community such as one might find in Africa. Perhaps Americans will gain perspective from the African Energy Ministers to learn about better community living in the USA.
